The Sweetest Goodbye...
Not only did I need the road trip because I was going frickin' stir crazy, but the original intention was to go see our friend Alana, who moved to east Tennessee a few months or so ago
Well, as what tends to happen when I try to make plans, Kelly got sick and couldn't make the drive here from Alabama.
I had already made the hotel reservations, and deeply had my heart set on getting out of the house with my best friends.
So I was heartbroken and a little upset.
Ultimately, I decided that I'd go- even if I had to go alone.
But I still had to try to find a trip-buddy
I called Aiden and of course, he had to work. My adoptive-from-work mom, Sherri didn't want to leave our smoothy charge nurse alone with the *ah-hem* other ladies of night shift. Understandably.
So I thought I'd ask Desi. Out of nowhere. On short notice. Crazy, there's no way she'll go.
Imagine my surprise when she said yes!
She had to bring her year old daughter, Lela, but it's all good in tha hood.
Lela slept most of the trip there.
I wanted to sleep most of the trip there.
We got to the hotel and unloaded our things in our
fabulous room.
The next morning, we went out for the staple of Pigeon Forge:
Mine had peanut butter and chocolate chips. Mmmm. Healthy.
We went to the aquarium.
We had lunch at the Feeding Frenzy next to the Stingray Tank.
Then we went to the Mountain Mall where I purchased some great souvenirs
for Aiden and Sherri.
Then we drove home. Lela was slightly more fussy on the way back, but she'd been strapped down in a car for, like, hours. It was hot and I have no air conditioning. On the way back, had to pull off of the interstate, to the side of the road and perform a standing diaper change, where I held Lela in the air while Desiree changed the diaper and dodged her kicking feet. Yeah, just like at work. Ha!
All in all, it was a great trip. Though short, we had a great time. It's like eerie how much she and I have in common, and both of us spend the longest time babbling about nothing at all.
It's glorious.
So really, my friendship with her is like, the best thing to come out of the *koff* relationship with Big, so I'm grateful to him for that. And if I still swung that way- I'd so girly crush on her. ;)
When I dropped her off, I talked to her grandparents for a few minutes. Because I'm the queen of polite family relations. Walking out the door, I got a hug from Desi and a half hug from Lela. Ahh, the sweetest goodbye.
Then I drove home, miniblogged, and passed out.
Good times.
